Good Vibes in Action: 23 Examples That Radiaite Positivity

The conscious vibe how to give off positive good energy vibes good positive energy vibrations feelings Good Vibes in Action: 23 Examples That Radiaite Positivity

Some people just have this ‘vibe‘ about them that makes people smile. It’s a contagious energy that boosts the attitude of everyone around them.

What is it about them that creates an aura-like exuberance of positive energy.

A person’s ‘vibes’ aren’t pseudoscience or some “voodoo non-sense“. Vibes are a science based on the well known premise that 90% of communication is non-verbal.

Vibes are emotional cues communicated through body-language, micro-expressions, tone-of voice, choice of words, and presence (or presentation) of oneself.

Speaking from my own experience, I often perceive other people based on the “vibes” they give off. And I expect that they do the same for me (whether they’re consciously aware of it or not)

In this article we seek expert opinions and perspectives to balance-out with our own personal experience s in order to gain a deeper understanding for the science behind giving off good vibes to others around you.

Let’s Dive In.

YOU CAN DECIDE To Be More Positive. The Ball Is In Your Court

Sometimes it feels like life is happing TO you, instead of BY you. But ultimately, it’s up to you to choose whether or not to have a positive attitude no matter what life throws at you.

In the words of psychologist Dr. Gregory L. Jantz, Ph.D., founder of an award-winning mental health treatment facility…

“Life is not always easy, and sometimes we get handed a bushel of lemons. However, it is our own perspective that ultimately determines if we will drudge through life puckered and sour, or skip along with a glass of sweet lemonade.”

23 Ways to Boost Your Vibe (and the People Around You As Well)

1. Keep Your Posture Open / Learn Positive Body Language –

As someone who’s mainly introverted, I struggle with positive body language cues, but since I’ve become more aware. I’m slowly improving.

By understanding non-verbal cues (vibes) you can be more conscious about what your sub-conscious is picking up, and (maybe more importantly) become more aware of how you’re presenting yourself to others.

  • As a general rule for giving off positive vibes, try not to cross your arms or legs when talking to someone.
  • If you’re a ‘hand in front pocket’ person, try switching to ‘hands in back pockets’ to open yourself up more.
  • Smiling is always in style when it comes to giving off positive vibes.
  • Try your best to stand up straight and avoid slouching.

2. Say A Few Affirmations Each Morning –

Saying Affirmation outload to yourself in the morning might sound a little “hokey” at first. At least that’s what I thought abut it.

Practicing positive affirmations is a practice that is thousands of years old and is actively being taught in our military today as a means of providing “mental armor” for coping with PTSD.

Basically an affirmation is just positive self talk. But by repeating positive phrases over and over again everyday, the hope is to drill some of that positivity into your sub-conscious and unconscious minds.

For example, if you wake up in the morning and repeat the affirmation “I Choose To Be Happy” 10 times (or maybe 30 times) , the first day you’ll probably forget by the time you get to your car.

The second day, you may remember when someone cuts you off in traffic.

But after a month of repetition, you may notice a dramatic difference in your overall level of happiness and the vibe that you give off.

There are thousands of affirmations to choose from or you can create your own. The goal with choosing an affirmation is to make it highly personal and motivating.

The real key with affirmations is to choose something positive which through repetition, you hope to drill into your unconscious mind so that in times of need, it bubbles up right into your conscious mind.

3. Pay Attention To Positive Thoughts –

According to medical expert Dr. Mark Stibich from VeryWell Mind, the ratio of positive to negative thoughts in your brain is a major factor in your overall happiness (and vibe).

Dr. Carly Snyder MD agrees that your brain is constantly sorting through the emotional tone of your thoughts. If you have too many negative thoughts, then your brain responds by creating stress and feelings of sadness in your body.

When you have more positive thoughts, your brain will create less stress and release more endorphins.

Both experts agree that by training yourself to improve your positive to negative thought ratio, you’ll be happier and give off a generally more positive vibe.

4. Dish Out The Compliments –

Who doesn’t like compliments ? (as long as they’re sincere)

Out of all the things on this list to boost your vibe, giving out compliments is probably the easiest to do on a day-in and day-out basis.

compliments 1274655 Good Vibes in Action: 23 Examples That Radiaite Positivity

In 2012 the National Institute for Physiological Sciences released a peer reviewed study which found that According to Professor Sadato,

“To the brain, receiving a compliment is as much a social reward as being rewarded money.”

5. Remember To Take Care Of Yourself –

Yes, we’re talking about exercise, but not just exercise. With 1-3 Americans overweight, and 66% of adults taking prescription drugs, mental wellness and eating healthy are crucial to feeling good and giving off good vibes.

You obviously don’t have to do yoga everyday, or become a vegetarian or anything like that, but just be self-aware of what you put into your body, how you treat your body, and remember, (when it comes to muscle) what you don’t use, you lose.

I don’t always enjoy exercising, but I feel noticeably more positive, accomplished, and self-confident when I do exercise (even if it’s just 30 minutes a day).

6. Keep A Daily Gratitude List –

Dr. Robert Emmons is a professor at the University of California, Davis and arguably the world’s leading expert on the science of gratitude. According to Dr. Emmons, writing down what you’re grateful for occasionally (1 – 2x per week) is more beneficial than journaling everyday.

This thought was proved correct by a study which found that people who wrote in their gratitude journals once a week for six weeks reported boosts in happiness afterward, while people who wrote three times per week didn’t see the same benefit.

Dr. Emmons believes that by writing down what you’re grateful for it allows you to see the meaning of events going on around you, and gives you time to create meaning in your own life.

More Meaning = More Happiness
More Happiness = Generally a More Positive Vibe

7. Sing Yourself A Song –

Singing or humming a good song puts you in a good mood, it’s simple math in my book.

But according to expert Jay Anderson who is a certified neurologic music therapist, there is no doubt that singing can lift and modulate both moods and emotions (or in other words, your ‘vibe’).

Mr. Anderson says that

“Singing solo even alone at home or in the car is courageous and bold. It can be exhilarating, cleansing, joyous, and extremely expressive, no matter the quality,”. “Process is more important than product”

8. Wear Brighter Colors (Especially Pinks And Teals) –

Clearly wearing a trench coat gives off a less positive vibe than a hawaiian shirt.

But your clothing choice is a little more scientific than that. A study published by The British Psychological Society found that when students were told to put on a lab coat that belonged to a doctor they were able to focus and sustain attention for longer.

Other research supports this study finding that the more powerful we see the clothes that we wear, the more powerful that we feel. The same would go for our vibe.

As researchers Keith Jacobs and Frank Hustmyer discovered in 1974, colors can greatly affect our moods and the way other people respond to us. Research has even shown that colors can change our heart rate, blood pressure and respiration.

Bright colors like pinks, teals, and florescent colors, are commonly associated with tropical places and positive happy thoughts.

9. Say Hello To Strangers –

Saying hi to strangers can feel awkward at first, but it can also feel good when you’re acknowledged, and there’s some science behind that.

The Psychological Science Journal published a study which found “that even the smallest gestures to connect toward strangers can bring about a sense of community. And that’s good for human health.”

Brian Begin teaches a technique of saying hi to 100 strangers in order to practice positive body language and positive vibes.

Brian is the founder of FEARLESS which helps students build deep, elite levels of confidence that allow them to achieve success and connect with people at degrees they never believed possible

10. Yield In Traffic –

Yielding in traffic is a simple gesture than can go a long way. When you’re trying to merge into traffic it seems like no-one will ever let you in. But how often do you let some-one else in? And how good do you feel when some-one else lets you in?

By sending a positive vibe in traffic not only are you making some-one else’s life easier (which your brain gets satisfaction from too), but you’re also relaxing yourself by sub-consciously telling your sub-conscious mind that 1or 2 spots ahead won’t matter in traffic.

Plus this is a really easy way to add positivity into a less-than-fun situation.

11. Pay Everyone With The Same Level Of Respect –

“”Good vibes”” shouldn’t only be reserved for those closest to you. Practice being positive to everyone (EVERYONE) around you. From bums on the street, to adversaries at work, to the cashier at the local deli, try giving everyone your best energy.

12. Let Yourself Think Negative When You Need To –

In the words of Rocky Balboa, “It’s not all sunshine and rainbows”

We’re all human, and part of being human is not being positive all the time. Our emotions can be controlled, but often vary wildly as a coping mechanism based on our life experiences.

When you need time to recharge don’t sweat it.
If you start to fall into downright negative thoughts that’s normal for anyone looking to push themselves to grow. Let the negative thoughts come and then go.

13. Cut Off Negative Influences –

Negative people rob you of your energy and positive people build you up. It’s not always easy but it’s not rocket science to understand that some people are not good to be around.

In the words of Kendrick Lamar, “bitch don’t kill my vibe”

By setting boundaries with negative people and prioritizing time with positive people you’re setting yourself up for a higher level vibe with like-minded people who will help propel your life forward.

14. Show Random Acts Of Kindness –

Last week the lady in front of me, in line at the local coffee shop, bought coffee for me and the 2 people behind me as well, and then walked out anonymously with-out saying a word. Instantly all 3 of our vibes were boosted by one small gesture.

There’s more to random kindness than free coffee though, experts say that because kindness contributes to our sense of community and belonging that studies have found kindness as a key contributor to a healthy, longer life.

15. Watch Positive Videos –

Speaking from experience, positive, and more specifically motivational videos can have a profound effect on your emotional state which in turn projects your general ‘vibe’.

Next time you’re on Nexflix or Youtube looking for something to watch, try finding something motivational to uplift yourself.

16. Stop All-Or-Nothing Thinking –

Psychology Today Author Dr. Toni Bernhard J.D. calls “all or nothing” thinking both a painful habit and a cognitive distortion.

All or nothing thinking is when you evaluate your life in terms of extremes. For example, you feel your life is either perfect or a disaster. Or that you’re either a complete success or a total failure.

Seeing life this way is distorted thinking because life is not black and white, it’s 1 billion shades of grey.

For people who think in terms of “all or nothing” as soon as you fall below 100 percent in your estimation, that 100 percent turns to zero. It’s OK to be 80% and still be positive.

17. Be Social – Go Out –

soTkTHjqX3RUfkHfYGPxDa Good Vibes in Action: 23 Examples That Radiaite Positivity

As a natural introvert, I enjoy being social, but it’s not always easy. Extroverts usually have no problem going out and being social as they draw energy from being social.

But for introverts, being social draws energy from us. Non-the less, humans are social creatures and even the most introverted of all of us needs social interaction to some degree.

According to social psychologist Susan Pinker

“Face-to-face contact releases a whole cascade of neurotransmitters and they protect you now, in the present, and well into the future, so simply shaking hands, giving somebody a high-five is enough to release oxytocin, which increases your level of trust, and it lowers your cortisol levels, so it lowers your stress.”Susan Pinker

18. Consciously Bring In A Higher Frequency –

You can choose the energy that you bring to a situation. You can choose to be laid back or up tight. You can choose to be positive or negative. And what you do choose you’ll attract.

We reflects our emotional feeling non-verbally through body language and micro-expressions which are represented by our general “vibe”, which others can pick up on and absorb.

If you’re on the same “”frequency”” as someone, then you are both tuned-in to the same way of thinking, or the same thought pattern.

19. Do A Quick ‘De-Cluttering’ –

Growing up I was always taught that a clean house = a clean mind. Maybe you’ve heard this expression?

Well according to the health experts at WebMD, there’s some real scientific evidence behind that expression.

Doctors agree that “getting rid of excess stuff can benefit your mental health by making you feel calmer, happier, and more in control. A tidier space can make for a more relaxed mind.”

WebMD cites multiple studies showing that an organized space can lead to the following benefits

  • Better focus.
  • Higher self-esteem.
  • Better relationships.
  • Lower risk of asthma and allergies.
  • Overall Improved lifestyle and well-being.

20. Listen To Upbeat Music

The effect music has on our general overall vibe is pretty obvious. We play music to relax, music before sporting events to get pumped, music for dancing, raving, studying, and even for seduction.

musicbrain 1600px Good Vibes in Action: 23 Examples That Radiaite Positivity

As study published by Science Daily in 2013 concluded that “Our work provides support for what many people already do — listen to music to improve their moods,”

21. Tapping Into Your Unconscious Mind –

The unconscious mind drives most of what we do, but due to the nature of being “unconscious” we’re not aware that it drives what we do.

For many people, the unconscious mind holds onto things that we don’t want to think about. For example, judgments about ourselves, unresolved & suppressed emotions, childhood trauma, PTSD, ect. (ALL VIBE KILLERS)

We often suppress these thoughts and feeling often convincing ourselves not to think about it.

Unfortunately our brains don’t work that way.

If you push an ice cube to the bottom of a glass, it will stay there for a brief second, before returning right back to the top. The same is true with pushing down thoughts and feelings in
to your unconscious mind. Eventually they will pop right back up into your conscious mind.

22. Work On Your Inner Positive Vibes –

I  personally struggle with finding my own inner strength. I’ve read 100 articles and most of them give vague advice like “just have positive vibes” man. But there’s more to it than that.

To find your strength with-in, you must be consciously aware of yourself and the world around you. The more you struggle the more strength you gain as long as you keep going. And the mor strength you gain the more confidence you become.

Here’s another article we published about what I’ve found by reading expert opinions and through my own personal experiences on developing inner-strength.

Why You Should Pay Attention To The Energy You’re Emitting

Our attitudes and ‘vibes’ are physical representations of our psychological construct.

In other words, our vibes reflect on the outside how we feel on the inside.

emotional_intelligence._-the_conscious_vibe

Our external ‘vibes’ are affected by our sub-conscious and unconscious feelings. These deep feelings are often reflected in our attitudes or body-language with-out us even being aware of it.

We often reflect our feeling non-verbally through body language and micro-expressions by our general “vibe” which others can pick up on and absorb.

Humans are emotional beings, and those of us who are consciously-aware of our own vibe may be able to read other peoples vibes better then they can themselves.

Your attitude and your energy are contagious and affect how the people around you feel. It affects your family, friends, colleagues, and even strangers you come across in your daily activities.

The Power Of Positive Energy –

According to Johns Hopkins Medicine

“it is clear that there is definitely a strong link between “positivity” and health. Additional studies have found that a positive attitude improves outcomes and life satisfaction across a spectrum of conditions—including traumatic brain injury, stroke and brain tumors.”

What Negative Energy Can Do –

When you have a negative attitude towards life, you radiate negative energy.

You start to become unpleasant to yourself and the people around you.

Not only does a negative attitude effect those around you, yourself, it goes deeper; it can affect your immune system, your creative ability, intelligence, and thinking ability.

It’s not only your health that could be affected by your negative vibes. A 2016 study published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology found that based on evaluating income levels and attitudes of people from all around the globe, researchers found that cynical people earn an average of $300 per month less than their more positive counterparts.

Conclusion

Life too short to spend it with a negative outlook. If the goal of life is to be happy, then why not spend more time giving off positive vibes.

If experts agree the positivity is linked to physical, mental, and financial benefits (experts do agree) then why not try to be more positive?

All it takes is something simple like a slight change in your posture, saying hi to a stranger, letting someone into a line of traffic, or writing down a list of things you’re grateful for.
